Sunday December 25, 2022 “Merry Christmas!”

Luke 2:15-20

15 So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. 17 Now when they had seen Him, they made [a]widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. 18 And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. using the focus point listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight.  We encourage you to join us

in prayer daily and invite others to join us.

The Christmas story is one that made people marvel at the thought of heaven come to earth. Today Christmas’ true meaning can get lost in the business and glitter of the season. Let us agree in prayer that we will see through the eyes of the shepherds, those who heard the story they told and through the eyes of Mary.

Prayer Focus #1: The shepherds were so impacted by the message and worship of the angels that they hurried to the town of Bethlehem to see this awesome happening in human history. Pray that God’s people here in America and everywhere will understand that urgency of the hour we live in, and look deep into the return of Christ as the shepherds hurried to see the event of the first coming.

Prayer Focus #2:  The shepherds did not keep to themselves the marvelous story of God come to earth announced by angels in words and worship. Pray that more of God’s people in America will share the wonderous message of the cradle and cross of Jesus with family, friends, and strangers during the Christmas season. The Bible speaks of the amazement the story created in the first Christmas story. Pray that the work of the Holy Spirit will create the same effect in the lives of those we share with today.

Prayer Focus #3: Mary pondered the events of that first Christmas while the shepherds glorified and praised the Lord. Pray that those that we tell about the greatest story ever told will be moved to respond to Christmas in their own special way and be motivated by the Holy Spirit to share this wonderful story with others.
