Sunday January 1, 2023 “Wake Up and Step Up!
Ephesians 5:14-16
14 Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”15 See then that you walk [a]circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. using the focus point listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
This begins the first week of the year we will take a break from following our Genesis foundations for prayer and we will focus on this brand-new gifts of 365 days to advance God’s kingdom by having prayer as a high priority for life as believers.
The Apostle Paul wrote these words to the church in Ephesus. He addresses two classes of people: to the sleeping believer and people who are dead in sins. He calls both to live in light of the times in which they live.
Prayer Focus #1: A sleeping believer is no better than a dead person to the advancement of the Kingdom of God. Pray that there will be a stirring deep in the soul of believers who have fallen asleep to awaken to their obligation to shine as lights in the world to bring conviction of sin to sinners and that they will find Him as Savior.
Prayer Focus #2: An old children’s song said, “Be careful little feet where you go.” The world we live in today is one that has many traps set for believers. We must walk by faith according to God’s Word. Pray that we will take each step with care and remain on the straight and narrow. When a Christian missteps, the world and Satan quickly accuses and condemns a Christ-follower.
Prayer Focus #3: Satan many times comes as an angel of light. We live in a day where the world makes evil look good and good looks evil. Pray that Christians will seek the heart of God and hide the word in their hearts so they will not sin against God. Pray as Jesus taught, “lead us not into temptation and delivers us from evil.”
