Sunday, January 22, 2023 “What and Why”
Genesis 20:9-11
“9 And Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, “What have you done to us? How have I [a]offended you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done.” 10 Then Abimelech said to Abraham, “What did you have in view, that you have done this thing?”11 And Abraham said, “Because I thought, surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will kill me on account of my wife.”
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. using the focus point listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
Abimelech asked hard questions of Abraham. Abraham didn’t tell the whole truth about the relationship between he and Sarah and there were valid reasons for this. Let us pray in agreement on the following three prayer points:
Prayer Focus #1: Pray that the attitude of many leaders in America will change from assuming that Christians have “done things” to America and see that when our country was influenced in a greater way things were much better in many ways.
Prayer Focus #2: Abimelech asked Abraham, “What have I don’t to offend you?” This means “how have I sinned?” Pray that our leaders who have been entrenched in D.C. and have taken us down the path that lads to instability and an unsure future will sincerely question “what have we done? – Instead of what have you done to us?”
Prayer Focus #3: Abimelech questioned Abraham, “What and why have you done this thing that could have brought total devastation to me and my people?” Abraham’s response was “I was afraid you would kill me to take Sarah as you wife.” Pray that men and women God will be moved by faith, not fear in our growing anti-God society.
