Sunday April 2, 2023  “Abraham Stood Up and Spoke Up”

Gen. 23:3-4   Then Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spoke to the sons of Heth, saying, “I am a foreigner and a visitor among you. Give me property for a burial place among you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.”

Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 9:00p.m. using the focus point listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.

In yesterday’s blog we saw in v.2 that Abraham wept. Now we see that Abraham stood up.  Tonight we will pray according to three Prayer Focus Points found in v. 3-4.

Prayer Focus #1 Abraham understood there is a time to weep and mourn and a time to stand.  As the body of Christ in America we must be saddened at the loss we have concerning the attitudes and behaviors that have become social norms in the land.  However, we must rise up as people of faith and become the example of faith and hope we need to see America turn back to God.  Pray to this end and then stand up against the forces of darkness that desires to destroy America’s standard of truth.

Prayer Focus #2  Abraham stood and then he spoke.  Pray that free speech will prevail in America and that we will see more opportunity for truth to be shared by the media and our schools.

Prayer Focus #3  Just as Abraham was a foreigner in the land we also are to consider ourselves as foreigners for our homeland is heaven.  In v.4 Abraham being a “foreigner” asked for something from the inhabitants of the land.  Pray that we who are Christians will not hesitate to ask favor from the sometime ungodly people who serve us in government and business.  We are a people who live under the favor of God and He can influence those who oppose us to bless us as He did with Cyrus, a heathen king in Old Testament times.
