Focus – “What it takes to Save”
Pastor Bill Hybels said these powerful words, “I will never look at a firefighter the same way again.  What is in someone, hundreds of them, to compel them to run into a burning building while everyone else is running out, just to save people they don’t even know?  Their bravery has become part of our collective national legacy.  Their bravery dignifies us all.
The recent loss of 19 elite fire fighters recently makes us acutely aware of what these men and women face on their job.  Firefighters save people from injury and death and they also save people’s property from destruction.  This requires an “all in” attitude towards life and giving of one’s self for what they hold dear and believe in.  The following pictures will help you grasp in your mind the focus, strength and commitment required to save.
“Here are two Norwegian guys rescuing a sheep from the ocean.”

Focus #1 – Pray for families of the 19 elite firefighters lost in the Arizona fire and that experts might identify ways of operation that this not happen again.  Pray also that the fire be contained and extinguished.
Focus #2 – Pray for the Firefighters and EMT’s in your community or city.  (Consider an act of kindness toward the Departments).  And speak an encouraging word to a firefighter you know and let them know we are praying.
Focus #3 – There are so many “Burning Buildings” in society today.  Pray for bravery in the church that we not rush from the fires of hell but run to the battle for people we don’t even know like the firefighters did on 9-11-01.  Consider the 2 guys rescuing the sheep.  Jesus said there are so many like sheep without a shepherd.  Pray that the burning buildings (homes and business damaged by Satanic attack in your city) be saved by God’s people, their witness of Jesus and the Holy Spirit’s power.
