Wednesday July 10, 2013 “Seeing but not Possessing” Part 3

Numbers 27:13 “And when you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was gathered.”
Moses saw the “regions beyond” from Mount Abarim but did not step foot on “the land that flowed with milk and honey”.
God told Moses that when he would see the land you will be gathered to your brother Aaron who had died.  Moses understood what God meant yet he climbed Abarim so he could see the land God promised.  Lesser men would have fled from the mountain but Moses rushed to the top to catch a glimpse of what others would possess because he had an eye on heaven and being with his brother Aaron.
If you know the story from Numbers Chapter 20, Moses disobeyed God by striking the rock that brought forth water for Israel to drink at the wilderness of Zin.  God had told Moses to strike the rock with his rod earlier in Israel’s wanderings but now he told Moses “speak to the rock” to receive a fresh supply of water.
Our nation has been blessed for our obedience to the word of God because we have obeyed its commands, but there seems to be a total disregard for the Word of God, truth and being obedient to the rule of law in the land today.  People who have lived in obedience to God now choose to disobey for some earthly advantage.  Oh that they could climb the mount and see what God had prepared for those who love Him.  (Jesus said, “If you love me keep my commandments”)
Pray today that we as a people, especially leaders, will respect and honor God’s word and obey what we know to be true and if people do not know the truth that they will seek it through the study of God’s word.
