Prayers of Agreement for Sunday August 4, 2013

Absalom set up a pillar and named it after himself. 2 Samuel 18:18 .  Perhaps he meant it to be his last resting place but surely he did not think he would need it so soon.  The pillar would perpetuate his name and fame.  But instead they cast him into a pit and laid a very great pile of stones upon Absalom’s body.
His disregard for God and his father, King David, prepared for him the burial of a dog. The pillar became, as it were, a pillar of salt on the plain of Sodom, a monument of the judgment of God for disobedience – another tower of Babel.
Tonight, let us pray in agreement the following 3 focus points.
Focus #1  That pillars built to or for self-aggrandizement  be brought down before destruction and disgrace befalls those who build them.  That God’s mercy would triumph.
Focus #2  Pray that people who have a total disregard for God and man repent and that those who would follow their ways be convicted by the Spirit of God to honor and fear the Lord.
Focus #3  Pray that those who have the attitude like the builders of Babel be scattered in their godless pursuit to make it to the heavens on their own without Jesus Christ.  Pray that every attempt to promote a Christless religion in America fail and the followers be confused and separated in their efforts.
