Monday August 19, 2013 “A Man Who Is Like Jehovah”

In I Kings 22, we read of an alliance between the godless king Ahab and the God-fearing king Jehosophat.  Ahab was a man who rejected both prophets and the prophetic word.  The two joined together would be an unequal yoke which would create weakness not strength.  God uses weak things to confound the wise, St. Paul wrote.   God does not desire to use unclean things no matter how strong they might be.
In the days of I Kings 22 there was a good man like the Prophet Elijah – he was both daring and truthful.  His name means “who is like Jehovah”.  His character was impeccable and his heart was holy.  Ahab did not want to hear from this man Micaiah but God needed to shine a light in a dark place so He chose this holy man who the bible said “knew the mind of the Lord”.  I Kings 22:8.
Pray today that the leaders of America – Federal, state and local, choose to be in alliance with people who are good and who will speak truth to them even when they don’t want to hear it.  More important – pray that good and godly men will not change when asked for their counsel because they are being “honored” to be asked their advice.
