Tuesday August 20, 2013 “A Man Tempted”

Yesterday I introduced the Prophet Micaiah, a good man called to shine a light in the darkness through his words.  But that man will endure temptation to compromise his convictions and say things acceptable to men and not God. This was the case with Micaiah.  Listen to these words from I Kings 22:13    “13 Then the messenger who had gone to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “Now listen, the words of the prophets with one accord encourage the king. Please, let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak encouragement.”
The King’s four hundred prophets of lies had spoken things the King wanted to hear but the man who stands in God’s place must be prepared to stand alone as a voice crying in the wilderness. Unrighteous men like to hear good said about them and men-pleasers are eager to accommodate their desire.
Today let us offer prayers that men of God will “stand their ground” and only speak the truth in love. Let us also pray that the temptation to compromise be brought under the power of God’s Spirit who will work in we who believe to speak the truth prophetically to our generation.
