Sunday September 1, 2013 “God’s Presence in School”

Before we begin our prayers of agreement concerning our three prayer focuses let me share with you details of a Patriot’s Day Prayer Walk on September 11, 6-7pm in Fairfax City, VA.  We will gather at Woody’s Ice Cream Shoppe at 10435 North Street and proceed toward George Mason University and then return to Woody’s where all participants will be treated to free ice cream.  If you live in the area we invite you to join us for this special time of intercession.  We will have “We Are the People” wrist bands and auto window decals for those who do not have them.

Prayer Focus #1 – that there is an awareness of God’s presence in every school in America.  There are believers in every school so the Lord said “Where two or more gather in my name, I am in their midst.”  Pray that as little Samuel was able to sense the presence of God and hear from Him in the Tabernacle area, that students will know that God is there with them and that He will be there in the good times and the challenging times.

Prayer Focus #2 – In the Bible Nehemiah was but a servant to a non-believing King yet he brought God into the conversation of life through his countenance that gave way to his words about the state of his country Israel.  Pray that Christian students have wisdom in bringing God into the classroom and school yard this school year. Pray that parents be aware of the rights of their children and educate them on how they can “bring Jesus to school with them” by the questions they ask teachers in the classroom as they study things like evolution and Christianity, etc.

Prayer Focus #3 – 1 Peter 3:15 commands us to be ready to give an answer for the hope that is in us as believers.  Christian teachers have rights to explain Christianity, Creationism, Christian holidays, etc.  Pray that teachers will be familiar with theirs and their student’s rights and use them to witness the reality of Jesus Christ and the Word of God in our schools.
