Monday September 16, 2013 “Prayers and Love”

1 Kings 3:3-5 “And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense at the high places.  Now the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place: Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar. At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?”
It seems that God is encouraging the King to pray and the Lord is saying, “Whatever you want just ask.”  In verse 3 it is mentioned that Solomon loved the Lord.  In 2 Samuel 12:24 we are told that God loved Solomon.  This is an unbeatable combination.  We know that God loves everyone, but everyone does not love God.  When they do – great things can happen because Galatians 5:6 tells us that faith operates or works because of love.
When a person realizes God loves them it awakens in their heart the fact that we should love the Lord in return.  We truly cannot love people who are made in the image and likeness of God unless we first love God.
Let us join in prayer for our nation, especially the leaders that will hear God saying that He loves them and that He desires for them to pray with hearts filled with faith and love so He can answer the prayers and heal our land.
