Sunday October 20, 2013 “Here I Am”

During the Federal Government shutdown it seems that Americans stepped up to make a difference in Washington DC.  One man showed up with tools to perform lawn care and it is said that public grounds were cleaner than usual due to “average Joe’s” picking up litter.
Perhaps we all can learn a lesson in all of this.  We all need to take responsibility for unmet needs in our communities, schools, Houses of Worship, etc.  If everyone does a little a lot will be accomplished.
The prophet Isaiah responded, “Here I am send me” when God called out for someone to go for Him and make a difference.  Tonight as we pray for America let’s focus on three points in prayer that will help us see once again that it is the giving of one’s self that brings more of life to others and that in giving we are blessed.  Please take a minimum of 15 minutes to pray in agreement with us.
Prayer Focus:
1)  That followers of Jesus Christ refuse to find excuses why they can’t give of themselves corporately and individually to make things better for others through serving the church and the community.
2)  Pray that those who are older will see in the Spirit what God can do through their life to encourage and equip future generations if they will invest time in the lives of children and youth.
3)  Pray for government agencies that do a great job at creating barriers to volunteerism through regulations will find ways to facilitate volunteering that could save the government billions of dollars each year.
*Find a way to give a neighbor a helping hand this week.
