Monday March 7, 2014 “Need for Works”

Nehemiah 1:3  And they said to me, “The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.”
In the third chapter of Nehemiah, our prayer guide for this week, we see a practical theology being practiced by the people of God.  The walls of Jericho fell by faith alone, the walls of Jerusalem would be reconstructed by obedience to the future scripture James 2:17 “Faith without works is dead.”
Pray this day that Christians who pray will also experience the joy of works in turning America back to God through community involvement where they can influence the lives of many.  There are opportunities to do after-school tutoring, mentoring, teaching English as a second language, community clean up and fix up – like in Nehemiah’s day.
