Welcome to our weekly Sunday cyber-gathering. It is asked that you pray in agreement with us concerning the focus points for at least 15 minutes between the hours of 6 and 9 pm in all time zones.
This coming Friday is Valentine’s Day. With the theme of love on our minds and hearts we will begin this evening a week-long emphasis on love. Every day there will be a posting and a prayer focus for the day. Hope you will choose to pray with us for our nation and try to connect others with this effort to pray in agreement which yields powerful results.
John 13:21-26 “21 When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.” 22 Then the disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom He spoke. 23 Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved. 24 Simon Peter therefore motioned to him to ask who it was of whom He spoke. 25 Then, leaning back on Jesus’ breast, he said to Him, “Lord, who is it?” 26 Jesus answered, “It is he to whom I shall give a piece of bread when I have dipped it.” And having dipped the bread, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
There are many questions people have today concerning the future. Peter’s curiosity got the best of him and he asked John “the one Jesus loved” to get an answer about the baffling events close to him and was learning to lean on the Master. We must learn to lean on Jesus once again in our day in our cities and the nation. Join me now:
Prayer Focus #1: John needed a hug. The atmosphere was charged with uncertainty. The first step was for him to draw near – James said, “Draw near to God, He will draw near to you.” Pray that people in America choose to find their answers in God and His word.
Prayer Focus #2: John the beloved was willing to lay his head on Jesus’ chest. This wasn’t just a casual friendship but one where John only felt safe near to the one who loved him with an unending love. Pray tonight that we as Americans choose not to lean on our ingenuity and strength but upon the Lord Jesus Christ. There we hear His loving heartbeat for us individually and as a nation. Pray that we will admit that we need a heavenly hug and not be afraid of investing in intimate fellowship with the Lord to cultivate that kind of relationship with Him.
Prayer Focus #3: Many follow Jesus “at arm’s length” and “afar off”. They desire to follow Jesus and be near Him but not too close. Why? Because many fear rejection by God. When we know the truth that “Perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18) we will be like John, unafraid to get close to Jesus. He accepts us “as is”. Pray tonight that Americans lose their fear of rejection by God if they come closer to His heart. The Prodigal son of Luke 15 found total acceptance by the Father’s love in that parable and the heart of Father has not changed.
