Friday, February 14, 2014 “Friendship Love”

1 Samuel 18:1-3   “And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.  And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father’s house.  Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul”.
On this Valentine’s Day, let us consider the strength of loving our neighbor as ourself.  Jonathan was a good friend to David.  He protected David at times from Saul, his father’s anger and jealousy.  Doing this, Jonathan knew it would affect negatively his right to the throne of Israel after his father.
Let’s join our hearts in a prayer of agreement that we love another like Jonathan and David did in the context of their close knit friendship.
Americans are well connected electronically but we need that personal touch of “face to face, heart to heart” connection.
