Monday March 3, 2014 “Stripping and Washing”

Leviticus 8:6  Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons and washed them with water.
We are told in Ephesians chapt 5 “We are clean by the washing of the word”. Jesus said that His disciples were clean through the word He spoke to them.
Before cleansing, there must first come the stripping. In Acts 2:37 following Peter’s first Pentecost Sermon, the people who heard him were cut to the heart asking, “What shall we do?”
All pride and religious self-sufficiency was laid aside by these Jewish people – their hearts were laid bare then they could be washed by the word spoken to them.
Prayer Focus: That people be willing to lay aside their pride long enough to hear the word of God. If they choose not to, that circumstances and situations will strip them bare before the Lord and that conviction will bring them to the place of desiring the washing of the Word of God and the blood of Jesus shed upon the cross.
