Sunday April 6, 2014 “Temptation to Compromise”

Nehemiah 6:1-3 “Now it happened when Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies heard that I had rebuilt the wall, and that there were no breaks left in it (though at that time I had not hung the doors in the gates), 2 that Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying, “Come, let us meet together among the villages in the plain of Ono.” But they thought to do me harm. 3 So I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?”
The enemies of Nehemiah attempted an insidious plot to get the man of God to compromise. “Come let us meet together at the plain of Ono.” This was nothing more than a distraction to take the focus off of the rebuilding of the Jerusalem walls.
The enemy realized the walls were rebuilt and that all there was left was to hang the doors on the gates. While the building of the gates was ongoing there was ridicule and threats, but now there was success for God’s people and righteousness would once again be found in the nation. So, the “roaring lion” became the fox. Compromise is a win for the enemy of good and a loss for those who are the righteous. Nehemiah refused to be a part of negotiations with a terrorist. “I cannot come down!” He was totally devoted to the work.
Tonight we gather from 6-9pm (all time zones) for prayers of agreement. Thanks for joining us once again for your faithful support of this ongoing prayer movement for our cities and the nation. Please pray with us for a minimum of 15 minutes and check out the daily prayer focus on http://www.wearethepeople.me.
Focus #1: Whenever the enemy desires to bargain with the righteous – it is an “Oh No!” situation – a “lose, lose” proposition. Pray that this truth be in the minds and hearts of godly leaders and citizens in America. It is time to say, “No Compromise” – if there will be movement it will be toward the ways of the Lord. In Nehemiah’s day that was to rebuild the walls and secure the city.
Focus #2: When the enemies of good desire to talk, it is because they realize that God’s people are on the offensive and that there is much territory being restored to the godly. Today let us pray that believers in America have a revelation of the truth that “The Gates of Hell shall not prevail against the church” and continue to take back more territory through involvement in the process and convincing others to join the work as Nehemiah did.
Focus #3: Distractions are an enemy that comes in camouflage. Things that deceive us into thinking the minors are majors and we must give them attention. As we approach the time when we will exercise our privilege to vote in the fall – let us pray that Christians not be distracted by issues that are not “life threatening” to America. The fox would like nothing more than for us to win a battle but lose the war.
