Neh. 6:8-9 Then I sent to him, saying, “No such things as you say are being done, but you invent them in your own heart.” 9 For they all were trying to make us afraid, saying, “Their hands will be weakened in the work, and it will not be done.” Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.
Nehemiah told those who opposed God’s work that their lies would not prevail against God’s purposes. He also prayed that the Lord would strengthen His people to complete the task of rebuilding the city walls of Jerusalem. Man does what he can but God alone can do what only He can do through yielded men and women.
Let our prayer today be focused on the fact that we must have God’s strength to fulfil God’s purposes in the earth. The Lord has promised us His power through the Holy Spirit promised to those who believe in Acts 1:8. Pray that all of God’s people desire this power and ask God to baptize them with the Holy Spirit.
The early church had many lies spoken against them which resulted in banishment from families, persecution such as beatings, imprisonment and even death. These activities still occur in our world today. I encourage you to ask God to continually fill you with the Holy Spirit as the Apostle did in his letter to the church at Ephesus. Remember God speaks to His people through Zechariah 4:6 “Not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord.”
