Mark 15:33-34 Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
Betrayal and denial are two of the most difficult experiences a human being could go through. Beginning with the “Last Supper” (Passover) and continuing through the Garden of Gethsemane, the trial, the mockery in the Pratorium and then the cross Jesus suffered so much and here we see that He even felt forsaken of His Father. How He loved us.
We sometimes feel betrayed and forsaken as we see attempts to wipe the Name of Jesus away from American life. Let us agree in prayer today that we will be able to stay strong like Jesus did in times when we feel that we are threatened and even betrayed by people whom we trusted to lead our cities, states and the nation in God’s Ways. Also pray that we keep a right attitude.
