Nehemiah 9:21-22 Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness; They lacked nothing; Their clothes did not wear out And their feet did not swell. 22 “Moreover You gave them kingdoms and nations, And divided them into districts. So they took possession of the land of Sihon,
The land of the king of Heshbon, And the land of Og king of Bashan.
This being Sunday we have three prayer points we will agree upon tonight from 6:00 – 9:00p.m. (all time zones). We also invite you to join us at WATP.me Monday through Saturday as we intercede for our nation and cities.
Yesterday we looked at the fact that God’s people Israel had plenty of provision during their forty year wilderness journeys. Today our focus is on the clothes the people wore and the shoes they had on their feet.
If we take this literal example from Israel’s experience and translate it to New Testament Jews and non-Jew believers we find powerful points for prayer.
Prayer Focus #1 “Their clothes did not wear out”. In America we have a Constitution and Bill of Rights which are intended not to “wear out” or grow old. Our founding documents, like the Word of God, are things we “put on” as Americans and they are forever relevant when interpreted correctly. Pray today that all Americans make themselves familiar with our rights and privileges as citizens and residents as these rights apply to life and liberty. Let us also pray that people in authority in all branches of government local, state and federal respect and honor those rights with Godly fear.
Prayer Focus #2 “Their feet did not swell”. The wilderness was a place of testing and trials but leaders like Moses, Joshua and Caleb understood they could walk by faith in God during those difficult twists and turns in the journey. In Ephesians, Chapter 6 v.15 we are told that part of the Christian armor is “shoes of good news”.
The Israelites’ feet did not swell as to no longer fit their shoes. We face challenging times as Bible-believing people in America. However the “Good News” of God’s Word will always fit in every situation. We are given faith to overcome and faith to endure even when the heat is on like God’s people experience in the wilderness.
Pray in agreement tonight that Christians in America continue to walk according to the Word of God regardless of their situation thus revealing that God is the God of the mountains and the valleys. His word always “fits” when we apply its unchangeable Truth.
Prayer Focus #3 In Ephesians Chapter 6 Written by the Apostle Paul we are told that the Christian has special armor that he is to wear. This armor is “head to toe” and begins with salvation. Let us agree in prayer tonight that there be an outpouring of the Holy Spirit through the testimony and resolve of believers that will bring the conviction of sin, the lack of righteousness and the understanding of judgment to the non-Christian in America. This will result in the fear of the Lord which is the beginning of wisdom that leads the empty soul to the waters of life found only in Jesus Christ.
Invite someone to join us in prayer tonight.
