Friday June 27, 2014 “A Sure Covenant”
Nehemiah 9:38 “38 And because of all this, we make a sure covenant and write it; Our leaders, our Levites, and our priests seal it.”
“Because of all this.” Because Israel rejected God’s love and guidance. Because the nation turned from God’s ways and because the people felt like servants instead of privileged residents they wrote out a sure covenant to return to God and repent for their disregard for God and His word.
In the 1990’s there was a “Contract with America”. Today we need Christians who will commit to a pure covenant with God. It all begins with us. We must allow the Lord to search us and expose any wrong attitude or actions in us. Then as David wrote in the Psalms “I can teach sinners in the way.”
Today, let us pray in agreement that believers in America understand the “unmasked” state of our country and renew our commitment to God and righteous living that will restore blessings to our land.
