Tuesday July 8, 2014 “Sabbath from Debt”

Nehemiah 10:31 “31 If the peoples of the land brought wares or any grain to sell on the Sabbath day, we would not buy it from them on the Sabbath, or on a holy day; and we would forego the seventh year’s produce and the exacting of every debt.”
Even though this verse refers to requiring too much interest on a loan or usury as it is called some places in the Bible, we can see application for not getting ourselves too wrapped up in debt.
Pray today that Christians use wisdom in their personal debt load and also pray that government at all levels will be open to this financial truth and balance budgets.  If we practice good stewardship as individuals we then have the authority and a compelling reason to demand the government to do the same.
