Wednesday September 17, 2014 “Prepare you Hearts”

1 Samuel 7:3   “Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.”
To prepare our hearts for the Lord is to have a spirit of expectation that God will do His part when we do our part in becoming free from our enemies.
Preparing our hearts is like plowing a garden or a field. The fallow ground must be tilled before seeds of faith can be planted so that we might harvest freedom in Christ.
Let our prayers of agreement today be for the church in America. We must surrender our will to God’s will as well as confessing our sins to God. These are the first steps toward freedom from sin and the things of this world that can ensnare us and bring us to the place of preoccupation with trinkets of earthly fun that keep us from the gold of a purified faith that leads us to the next step into God’s will.
