Thursday September 18, 2014 “Serving God Alone”

1 Samuel 7:3 Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.”
“Serve Him Only” is the result of yesterday’s focus of preparing our hearts for the Lord. In Exodus 20 where we find the 10 commandments God demands that we have no other God before Him and that we should serve no one and nothing but the one true God of Israel.
Romans 6:16 tells us that we become a servant to whom we choose to serve. Let us focus our prayers on the hearts of God’s people in America – that we become totally sold out to the purposes of God that we see ways to “serve” Him no matter what we are doing. It is in everyday living a surrendered life that brings revival.
