We Are The People

1 Kings 18:19-21 “¹⁹ Now therefore, send and gather all Israel to me on Mount Carmel, the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal, and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.” ²⁰ So Ahab sent for all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together on Mount Carmel. ²¹ And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.”

Here we are another Sunday evening gathering for prayers of agreement for the land we love. I encourage you to once again familiarize yourself with the reason WATP exists and its goals by taking a few minutes to read the information on the website and then invest at least 15 minutes in intercession for America – between the hours of 6 and 9 pm (all time zones).

Recently we have been praying in agreement for revival in the churches of America. Yesterday we prayed that those who trouble the land be exposed for who they truly are.  We prayed that those in the body of Christ who have a prophetic voice in the leadership of America speak up as Elijah the prophet did in 1 Kings 18:17-18.

 Tonight our prayers will be focused upon what is called “The Showdown on Mt. Carmel.”  We will continue to look at the account of the events on the mountain.  I believe America is in a “showdown” moment concerning our future direction as a nation.

Focus #1: Pray that people all across America hear the voice of the Holy Spirit calling God’s people to a time of coming together to be informed about what is happening in America spiritually and politically and be prepared for a “showdown” with those who oppose God’s ways.

Focus #2: Pray that God’s people be courageous as they face those who “eat at Jezebel’s table”.  Jezebel was King Ahab’s wife.  She was an evil usurper of authority who brought chaos to the land of Israel.  Those that she enabled by supporting them from the palace funds caused Israel to go astray primarily because God’s prophetic voice was not being heard.  Pray that Christians fearlessly take a stand as we bring Biblical truth back to America as the rule of law and the high standard by which we live.

Focus #3: Pray that the urgency concerning the state of America be understood by God-fearing people.  As in Elijah’s day we must come to the place where God’s people choose who they will serve.  There is but one month until we will gather at polling places as Israel gathered at Mt. Carmel.  At that place may informed voters cast their votes for those on the Lord’s side.  Pray that we who are informed urge others to exercise their right and privilege on November 4.
