Saturday October 11, 2014 “Trench of Separation”

1 Kings 18:31-32 “31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Israel shall be your name.” 32 Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed.”
In the New Testament 1 Peter 2:5 we are told that every believer in Jesus Christ is a lively or living stone built into a spiritual house – the church of Jesus Christ.  The trench cut around the altar of sacrifice which would ultimately determine who Israel would serve represents a separation.
Pray today that as Living Sacrifices on the altar that we, God’s people, strive to live a separated or sanctified life in this world. Pray that we are not persuaded by the ways that seem right to man but their end is death.
