1 Kings 18:33-37 “33 And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood, and said, “Fill four water pots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood.” 34 Then he said, “Do it a second time,” and they did it a second time; and he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time. 35 So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water. 36 And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. 37 Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.”
Welcome to our Sunday evening edition of “We are the People” prayer. From 6-9pm (all time zones) it is asked that you spend a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement concerning three Prayer Focus points.
Thank you for being a part of this movement determined to see America turn back to God in our day. If you would like to join us for prayer 8-9pm Sunday in Fairfax, VA contact us through this website.
Tomorrow and the upcoming blogs this week will deal with the truth of 1 Kings 18:38 and the continuing verses of this “Showdown on Mt. Carmel”. We encourage you to join us in our daily journey of intercession.
Prayer Focus #1: Once all things were in order concerning the altar, the proof of who the true God is could begin and the cold, wet waters of this world could not stop its testimony. Pray tonight that we who are the living sacrifices and living stones of the altar of God be not afraid to bring the power of God’s word into the public arena of business, education and politics in America. When Elijah had water poured over the sacrifice the “water of the word” (Ephesians 5:26) would wash away all doubt of who the true God is and when we bring the word into the public arena of thought and practice God will confirm His word and the reality of His existence.
Prayer Focus #2: In verse 36 we are told when the time had come, Elijah offered a simple prayer, “God, let all now see that you are the Lord and that I am your servant who has done all these things at Your word.”
Tonight, pray in agreement that there be an understanding of the urgency of the hour we live in for “the time has come”. And may our prayer be one of boldness as we request that the Lord reveal who He is in a powerful display of His miraculous power and that all that happened comes from the heart of God.
Earlier this year I said 2014 would be a year when God would take the wheels off of Pharaoh’s chariots. In other words, man’s prowess would be brought down like what happened at the Red Sea. We have seen much happen and it is accelerating in this final quarter of the year.
What is needed now is for godly men and women to step forward and make the ways of God public. Let’s pray to that end and do what we can to see God prove Himself and His word for the time has come. “Israel is coming out of Egypt” in America!”
Prayer Focus #3: Verse 37 tells us that part of Elijah’s prayer was that there be a revelation to all that God was on the move to turn America’s heart back to God. Pray in agreement tonight that there be a spirit of revelation break through to many hearts that men’s ways have not worked and it is time to choose God’s ways in this time of the evening sacrifice – the late hour in which we live.
