Sunday January 4, 2015 “Holy Day, Holy Words”

Isaiah 58:13-14 “13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy day of the Lord honorable, and shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, 14 Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord; and I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.  The mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
Happy New Year! And welcome to Sunday Night Live 6-9pm (all time zones) where individuals and groups gather to pray for America.  It is asked that partners invest a minimum of 15 minutes focusing on three points of intercession.  On this first Sunday night of 2015 we will conclude our prayers of agreement following the 58th chapter of Isaiah as a guide.
Prayer Focus #1:  The prophet admonishes readers to refer to the Sabbath as a delightful and holy day unto the Lord.  Let us join our hearts in prayer tonight for God’s people in America to have a positive attitude toward the Lord’s Day and worship.  We will then have confidence and boldness inviting others to join us.
Prayer Focus #2:  The Sabbath is not a day to speak your own words, your opinions or ideas about the scripture or issues of life.  The Sabbath is a day to hear from God and speak of His goodness and righteousness.  Pray that as we gather in our churches that we will have a desire to hear God’s word and then talk about its truth to others – especially on “the Sabbath”.
Prayer Focus #3:  Isaiah 58:14 tells us that if we are faithful to our observance of the Sabbath Day then we will delight in the Lord and He will lift us up to ride on the high places of the earth.  Pray in agreement tonight that believers will do those things that God calls them to do on the Sabbath.  This will result in our delighting in Him.  Psalm 37:4 tells us that when our delight is in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our heart.  Those “God-planted” desires will direct us into His perfect will and open the way to being “above and not beneath” as Deuteronomy 28 puts it as being the result of obedience to God’s word.
