Tuesday February 24, 2015 “Fasting For the Future”

Matthew 6:16 “Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
We have been following the Sermon on the Mount as a prayer guide for a few weeks. Today’s test tells us the wrong way to fast. It seems some people simply fast to impress others or to benefit from their response. But let’s look at the words of Ezra the scribe concerning fasting:
Ezra 8:21 Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions.
It seems that these words tell us fasting is all about God’s will for our family’s future. Pray today that Christians across America set aside time to fast and pray for our nation’s future. We must hear from heaven too so we can be set on the right path for our children.
