Friday March 6, 2015 “Don’t Worry”

Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Jesus is not promoting, “Don’t worry, be happy” attitude as much as He is telling us in this verse “Don’t get all torn up” worrying about such simple provisions in life. Jesus seems to be saying, “Chill out!”
Today, let us pray in agreement that believers learn to be at peace and live with contentment in the care of our Shepherd. The original word used in this text for worry or to be anxious means to be pulled apart. God doesn’t want our mental well-being torn to shreds by worry. He desires us to have a sound mind so we might make godly Biblical choices in life and not be consumed with “needs” that God already promised as our inheritance in life.
