Matthew 5:5 “5 Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.”
Welcome to Sunday night “We are the People.” Thanks for joining us for a minimum of 15 minutes of intercession concerning the three prayer focuses.
In the Book of Amos 8:11 we are told that there would be a day when there would be a famine of hearing the words of the Lord. We live in a day where we are bombarded with the word of God. By radio, television, online, and printed page we have much word but the famine today is hearing the word of God and actually responding to it in actions that will change our nation.
Prayer Focus #1: Pray tonight that Christians in America will have an ear to hear the truth of God as taught through the revelation of the Holy Spirit. We must understand the Spirit of the Word concerning this generation’s issues if we are to obey God and live righteously leading the way in this land we love.
Prayer Focus #2: Today’s world provides so many ways to be hungry for things that never satisfy: gourmet foods, status, recognition, money and success being just a few things paraded before us in modern day USA. Pray in agreement tonight that God’s people choose to seek contentment and satisfaction in the pursuit of righteousness in our day. May the direction of the heart of God’s people be a pursuit of that which will bring blessing without sorrow. That is God’s will and purposes for America being accomplished in and through us. We must pursue these spiritual treasures while there is yet time.
Prayer Focus #3: So many people who are believers feel a void in their lives. Perhaps the reason for this is the pursuit for spiritual junk food. Desiring what sounds appetizing like cotton candy. Only thing is cotton candy is not much more than sugar and air. It looks inviting but does not nourish. Pray tonight that Christian America will have a desire for meat of God’s word that will strengthen the saint and inspire the nation to turn back to God.
A diet of cotton candy and the like will only produce spiritual children that only want more candy when the day we live in demands the meat of the word that strengthens and guides the human heart.
