Friday July 17, 2015 “Prayerlessness”

Romans 8:26-28 “26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.  28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
This week our prayer focus has been on the five-fold attack of evil on God’s people and God’s counter to the enemy’s attack on the advancing church. The final area of attack of evil is prayerlessness. Satan knows that fervent effectual prayer will tear down his strongholds and render him powerless.
God’s counter to this attitude of slothfulness in prayer is the teaching ministry. Jesus was known as “Good Teacher”. He taught the disciples to pray always and He taught them how to pray. The Apostles slept through a very difficult hour in the Garden of Gethsemene. Pray that God’s people awaken to the power of prayer in the church through Spirit-filled teaching about prayer in known and unknown languages for there we learn to pray according to the will of God.
