Wednesday February 17, 2016 “Hirelings”

Zechariah 11:4-5 “Thus says the Lord my God, “Feed the flock for slaughter, whose owners slaughter them and feel no guilt; those who sell them say, ‘Blessed be the Lord, for I am rich’; and their shepherds do not pity them.”
“Bless the Lord, for I am rich.”  This is the attitude of those who do not spare the flock.  The heart of a true shepherd has a deep concern and love for the sheep under their care.  Jesus called those who “shepherd” the flock for personal gain, “hirelings.”
Let us pray today that God will expose the hirelings for who they are – they fill their own barns with plenty and outwardly profess that God has prospered them.  This is an abomination to God and destructive to man and his faith.  Pray that hirelings turn from the error of their ways.
