Sunday March 6, 2016 “Uncaring Shepherds”

Zechariah 11:16  “For indeed I will raise up a shepherd in the land who will not care for those who are cut off, nor seek the young, nor heal those that are broken, nor feed those that still stand. But he will eat the flesh of the fat and tear their hooves in pieces.”    How terrible this verse of scripture sounds if applied to literal sheep, but in context the Lord is speaking about people who inhabit the land.
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday night edition of We Are The People prayer ministry. Every day there is a single prayer point blog to lead us in prayer for America the land we love.
On Sunday it is asked that partners intercede in prayers of agreement concerning 3 prayer points. Although you may be led to pray much longer we ask that you invest 15 minutes in intercession for this land we love between the hours of 6 and 9 pm  (all time zones).  God bless you for your heart for America and the Lord Jesus Christ. We encourage you to use social media and other methods of sharing this site with others who love this “one nation under God.”
Prayer Focus #1  God said He would raise up a shepherd who would not care for those who are cut off. So many today are cut off from the life-line of faith and brotherhood in America. Let us pray that God’s people will live for God and His kingdom so He will not have to allow such evil shepherds to rule the land to discipline His disobedient sheep.  God desires for us to have good shepherds who will rescue those cut-off from the church and the benefit of God’s blessings upon this land.
Prayer Focus #2  The young, the broken and the hungry were not sought after and cared for.  How tragic!  The desperate sheep are not loved. They are left to their own.  Pray that the uncaring shepherds in America become convicted of their sins of omission in not meeting the needs of the flock under their care. We must do what we can to see that people with a shepherd’s heart will find themselves in oversight positions in the land.
Prayer Focus #3  The last part of Zechariah 11:16 tells us that the unkind, uncaring shepherd will “eat the flesh of the fat and tear their hooves in pieces.”  This describes vicious wolves in sheep’s clothing.  Their lack of caring devolves into a tearing apart of the sheep. Whenever we settle for a lack of natural affection and care for people, the next step is downward to degradation and destruction.  Pray that as Christian believers we will restore the sanctity of human life and support leaders who will feed and nurture the sheep who are young, wounded and hungry.  These are the least of these for they are those who have taken a hit in life but they are working their way back to self-sufficiency and stability in life.
