Monday April 11, 2016 “Half Taken Captive”
Zechariah 14:2 “For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
The city shall be taken, The houses rifled, And the women ravished.
Half of the city shall go into captivity,
But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.”
Yesterday we began to look at this verse using the Book of Zechariah as a prayer guide. Today and tomorrow we will visit the second half of v.2. Half of the city will go into captivity. One will be swept away by the tide of evil and one will be left. These words are true in so many ways. One spouse can be good, the other not so good. One child is good and never goes astray. The other is what we call a prodigal. This kind of child is as old as Eden – Cain bringing wrong offering and then killing his brother Abel in a fit of anger.
Pray that the “good guys” in all of our cities in America will hold the moral high ground in a day when there is such a fierce attack on those who take the word of God as their standard as a world-view they can live by. Pray that these men and women not be “taken captive” by allurement of this world.
