We Are The People

Genesis 35:1-2  Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel and dwell there; and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.”  ² And Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your garments.

Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We Are The People” prayer for America.  Every Sunday night we ask partners to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement focusing on 3 prayer points between the hours of 6 and 9 pm  (all time zones.)

  May God richly bless you for your commitment and investment of time in seeing America turn to God at this pivotal time of our nation’s history.

Focus Point #1  In v.2  of our Bible text we are told that we must put away the foreign gods among us. These “gods” that come under the guise of heathen religions are easy for Christians to recognize and avoid. But with the influx of people who worship these false gods there comes the seducing and lying spirits that have a mysterious draw on young people and the unsaved and unlearned among us.

  Pray today that these spirits of Anti-Christ will be bound in their influence across the land and especially pray for discernment among our children and spiritually immature that they will seek truth of God’s word that will keep them safe from the snare of the devil.

Focus Point #2  In our text God was calling His children to Bethel which by interpretation means House of God. In v.2  God commanded the people to purify themselves.

  Let us all pray this day that as King David of old, we who believe will ask the Lord if there be any wicked ways in us.  As we come to the end of 2016 we all should pray that prayer in sincerity so we might be prepared spiritually for the upcoming new year that is filled with promise.

   Pray today that the church will hear this word from God and with contrite hearts repent of sin and attitudes that are ungodly as we worship and serve God in local churches (Bethel) across America.

Focus Point #3  Again in v.2 we find instruction that following the cleansing there must also be a change of garments.

  In the days of Zechariah the Prophet there was a High Priest who served the Lord by the name of Joshua. Now Joshua was found to be wearing unclean or defiled garments before God and Satan accused and opposed Joshua.  But the Lord rebuked the devil and provided new clothing for the priest clean and white.

   Pray in agreement today that our fellow believers in America will not only repent of sin but also spend time before the Lord to receive the understanding that when we stand cleansed before the Lord we have a ready mind and heart to receive the whole armor of God described in the Book of Ephesians Chap 6 and as Isaiah says “a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.”  It is time to look up for our redemption draws near.
