Tuesday, June 19, 2018 “Abandon the Idols”

1 Kings 14:22-23 22 Now Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they provoked Him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, more than all that their fathers had done. 23 For they also built for themselves high places, sacred pillars, and wooden images on every high hill and under every green tree.
Idolatry was found everywhere. God’s people had given themselves over to disobedience toward one of God’s premier commandments. “Have no other gods before me.” Covetousness is described by the Apostle Paul as being like idolatry. Let us pray today that Christians in America will put away their idols and be satisfied with what they possess. For “godliness with contentment is great gain.”
