2 Kings 1: 16¹⁶ Then he said to him, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of His word? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed to which you have gone up, but you shall surely die.’ ”

The Prophet Elijah did what Jesus did in His day.  He asked a question of King Ahaziah, “Why don’t you ask the God of Israel the question you have concerning the future?”  Jesus nor Elijah answered the question of those who rejected God and His word.  Pray today that men and women of God and leaders of our nation won’t allow themselves to be put on the defensive side of issues but that they would put others who oppose right and good on the defensive side of things.
