Elijah was “the man” in his generation and a world without him would seem hopeless to the average Jew. But Elisha saw that what God’s people needed was the Spirit of God working in Elijah—not just a bold, courageous man to lead the way. Pray that with all the technological advances at our fingertips, we will never forget Zechariah 4:6: “not by might nor power but by my Spirit says the Lord.”
