The mantle was the symbol of authority. Elisha fit the mantle because he understood that the power and authority Elijah possessed was from God. Pray that those who lead will be careful to pick up and put on the mantle—the mantle that is seen in godly leaders with the fear of God and the kindness of a shepherd.
