Sunday December 10, 2023 “Only God Can”
Genesis 30:1-3 “Now when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister, and said to Jacob, “Give me children, or else I die!”2 And Jacob’s anger was aroused against Rachel, and he said, “Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?”3 So she said, “Here is my maid Bilhah; go in to her, and she will bear a child on my knees, that I also may [a]have children by her.”
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm using the focus point listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
Rachel directed her frustration at Jacob. Jacob responds in a way he knew was the best answer for her. “There are some things only God can do.
Prayer Focus #1 One can understand Rachel’s frustration; however, her feelings were directed toward Jacob who was unable to remedy her situation. Pray that as mere men our President, Congress, etc. will understand that some things cannot be remedied by man and that they will turn to the God of our country for help and stop blaming others.
Prayer Focus #2 Jacob directed his feelings toward Rachel, the girl he loved so much. He realized that this was a God situation, and he knew there was no other answer to be found but in a relationship with the Lord. Pray that we in America will realize that what we need is brotherly love to be restored in the “land of the free and home of the brave.” And Jesus in our hearts alone can put that love in our hearts.
Prayer Focus #3 In her desperation, Rachel requests an answer to her situation through the work of the flesh. Pray that the “Rachels” in America – people who follow after righteousness, will not resort to battling the “Leahs” of life’s issues in the flesh. In this situation as with many in life, it is for our own desire not what is right that we struggle to possess and keep things even to our own destruction because we desire to consume things to satisfy our lusts.
