Sunday, December 24, 2023“Come and Worship Him”

Luke 2:7-11, 15-18And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a [a]manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And [b]behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord….15 So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. 17 Now when they had seen Him, they made [a]widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. 18 And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.”

Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm using the focus point listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.

Today is Christmas Eve. We will take a brief break from Genesis chapter 30 and focus on the Christmas holiday and the opportunities and possibilities that come with it. On Tuesday, we will return to our usual prayer thread following the book of Genesis as our guide in prayers of agreement.

Prayer Focus #1 What a day it must have been when the Messiah would be born in such a lowly estate. One can only imagine what heaven was like as the angels saw the “countdown clock” ticking down to the appointed time for the Son of God to enter as a man who created all things. Pray that all believers will have that sense of excitement and anticipation the angels had on that Christmas Eve. Let us follow their example in declaring the greatest story ever told to all who will listen as the shepherds did on that day.

Prayer Focus #2 Most of us contact our family and those we love on Christmas. Undoubtedly many of those we talk with don’t know Jesus as Savior and Lord. Pray that we will hear the voice of opportunity to bring the clear and simple message to those we speak to today and tomorrow.

Prayer Focus #3 The shepherds heard the invitation to come and worship Jesus. Let us pray that the unsaved people in America will have “ears to hear” the heavenly invitation to come and worship Jesus, given not by angels but by those who have already found the truth that Jesus is worthy to be worshiped.
