Genesis 30:30-34
30 For what you had before I came was little, and it has increased to a great amount; the Lord has blessed you [a]since my coming. And now, when shall I also provide for my own house?”31 So he said, “What shall I give you? “And Jacob said, “You shall not give me anything. If you will do this thing for me, I will again feed and keep your flocks: 32 Let me pass through all your flock today, removing from there all the speckled and spotted sheep, and all the brown ones among the lambs, and the spotted and speckled among the goats; and these shall be my wages. 33 So my righteousness will answer for me in time to come, when the subject of my wages comes before you: every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and brown among the lambs, will be considered stolen, if it is with me.” 34 And Laban said, “Oh, that it were according to your word!”
Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America. Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm using the focus point listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight. We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.
Today we return to our Prayer focus through the book of Genesis chapter 30. It is evident that Jacob felt that it was time he and his family provided for themselves some, as we read in part B of verse 30. “When shall I also provide for my own house?” Jacob came up with a plan to reveal how it truly was that God’s blessings were upon his life.
Prayer Focus #1 As believers, we are to be the best in our workplace performance and our family life. Pray that believers in America will strike a good balance of occupational, personal, and family life doing all to the glory of God.
Prayer Focus #2 Jacob responded to Laban’s request of “what shall I give you?” with “Don’t give me anything.” This sounds like his grandfather Abraham’s response to the King of Sodom “I will not take anything so you can say, “I made Abraham rich.” Pray that God’s people will not compromise integrity for gain.
Prayer Focus #3
Pray that godly business will so order their business practices so they might say as Jacob said in verse 33, “So my righteousness will answer for me, and the result will be blessing for all.”
