We Are The People

Genesis 31:31-32 “³¹ Then Jacob answered and said to Laban, “Because I was afraid, for I said, ‘Perhaps you would take your daughters from me by force.’ ³² With whomever you find your gods, do not let him live. In the presence of our brethren, identify what I have of yours and take it with you.” For Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen them.”

Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm using the focus point listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.

Jacob admitted he was afraid, and he thought Laban would take Rachel and Leah from him. Jacob knew he did not take the “gods” from Laban, but he never considered that one of his wives took their father’s gods.

Prayer Focus #1: Jacob feared loss if he was open and honest with Laban. What he did not understand was that he should – like many years later President Reagan would say, “Trust, but verify.” Pray that God’s people in America’s leadership will govern by those powerful words.

Prayer Focus #2: Jacob needed to watch his words, for Rachel had taken her father’s gods and he said, “let the guilty party die.” Pray that God’s people in America will not be hasty with their words.

Prayer Focus #3: Jacob did not know what his wife Rachel had done. Pray that Christians in America will be in touch with the state of the heart of their family members so their future will not be in jeopardy.
