Sunday, May 12, 2024 “Mother’s Day”

Ruth 1:6-10Then she arose with her daughters-in-law that she might return from the country of Moab, for she had heard in the country of Moab that the Lord had visited[a] His people by giving them bread. Therefore she went out from the place where she was, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah. And Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go, return each to her mother’s house. The Lord deal kindly with you, as you have dealt with the dead and with me. The Lord grant that you may find rest, each in the house of her husband. “So she kissed them, and they lifted up their voices and wept. 10 And they said to her, “Surely we will return with you to your people.”

Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm using the focus point listed below as a guide. May God bless you for your concern for America’s future expressed in prayer tonight.  We encourage you to join us in prayer daily and invite others to join us.

On this special day, we take a break from Genesis to properly honor mothers and mothers-in-law among us. Naomi was one of the best mothers-in-laws ever. Today let us pray for mothers and mothers-in-law.

Prayer Focus #1: Naomi heard that there was provision in Judah, so she left Moab with her daughters-in-law heading to the place of provision. Pray for mothers and mothers-in-law to possess that spirit to love for their sons and daughters-in-law to the point they help the younger to be cared for.

Prayer Focus #2: There is found no jealousy in Naomi. She told her daughters-in-law to return to their mothers. Naomi did not look for attention. She just desires godly affection in the family. Pray that will be the same with mothers and mothers-in-law today.

Prayer Focus #3: Naomi showed no favoritism concerning her daughters-in-law. In verse 14, we are told that Orpah kissed her mother-in-law as they went their separate ways. And Ruth clung to her mother-in-law. Naomi loved both of her daughters-in-law the same. Pray for mothers and mothers-in-law to have the same kind of love for all their family.
