We Are The People

Genesis 38:6-8 “6 Then Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, and her name was Tamar. 7 But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord killed him. 8 And Judah said to Onan, “Go in to your brother’s wife and marry her, and raise up an heir to your brother.”

Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm EST using the focus point listed below as a guide. God is always concerned about next generations. In this text, there are at least 3 Prayer Point items we can pray for tonight.

Prayer Point #1: Verse 6 tells us that Judah (of the lineage that Jesus came through as a man) chose Tamar to be his son’s wife. Not that all marriages must be “arranged” but we must pray that our children must be married to believing wives. We need to have godly influence from both mothers and fathers in America.

Prayer Point #2: It seems that God is more interested in who our children marry than we are according to verse 7. Pray that we will prayerfully ask God to bring godly spouses into our children’s lives.

Prayer Point #3: In verse 8, it seems that the brother of Er (Onan) was put in a position that could be kind of dangerous.  Er’s arranged marriage didn’t go so well. Pray today that we who are Christians in America will help our children to choose marriage even in a culture where there are many divorces. God needs marriage of 1 man and 1 woman who are spirit filled believers who can carry on the godly seed in the next generation.
