We Are The People

Genesis 50:4-6 Now when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spoke to the household of Pharaoh, saying, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, please speak in the hearing of Pharaoh, saying, ⁵ ‘My father made me swear, saying, “Behold, I am dying; in my grave which I dug for myself in the land of Canaan, there you shall bury me.” Now therefore, please let me go up and bury my father, and I will come back.’ ”

⁶ And Pharaoh said, “Go up and bury your father, as he made you swear.”

Good evening and welcome to the Sunday Night Edition of “We are the People” Prayer for America.  Every Sunday we bring together the hearts of intercessors that choose to invest a minimum of 15 minutes in prayers of agreement between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm EST using the focus point listed below as a guide. Joseph used leverage in his dealings with Pharaoh. He was a wise negotiator. Let us pray according to the following three prayer focus points this evening.

Prayer Focus #1: Joseph was like the Prime Minister in Egypt. He used his relationship with those in Pharaoh’s house to persuade Pharaoh to allow him to fulfill his promise to his father as to where he would bury Jacob’s remains. Pray that Christians who find themselves in places of influence will use that leverage to fulfill the wishes of our founding fathers.

Prayer Focus #2: Joseph desired to honor the wishes of those who came before him. Pray that leaders in America will have that same desire. We must remember that we stand on the shoulders of others to become who we are.

Prayer Focus #3: Pharaoh granted Joseph the favor he requested. Pray that we will live in such a way that when we use our leverage, we have favor extended to us by those who can make a difference in our lives and nation.
