Sunday July 21 2013 Prayers of Agreement

This weekend there is a call for demonstrations in many cities to protest the highly publicized Zimmerman case in Florida.
If these gatherings become a reality, the result will be further polarization in our nation.  We who call ourselves Americans must return to the place of understanding. We are “one nation under God.”  Jesus said any group of people who are divided shall not stand.
In Proverbs 6:19 the Bible teaches that one of 7 things the Lord despises is when a person sows discord among brothers. Keeping this in mind, let us pray in agreement over these three prayer points birthed in the study of Jeremiah chap 5.
1)    Jeremiah 5:1  God speaks saying if there is found in a city like Jerusalem of old, one person who will execute judgment and seek truth, God will pardon the city. Pray that in every city there be found at least one person as Ezekiel 22:30 says who will “stand in the gap” for the people within their city or town. (You are the person in your city as you intercede.)
2)    The Apostle Paul said that in the last days perilous times shall come. One of the signs of that day is lawlessness. In Jeremiah 5:2 there is reference to those who swear they are following truth but they swear falsely.  Let us pray today that the deception that causes distortion of the truth be broken over our cities and that there be a love for the truth  2 Thess 2:10 and respect for the law in the land. The alternative is that people will perish according to God’s Word.
3)    In the book of Jeremiah 5:3-5, the Bible speaks of God dealing with the people for their obstinance toward the truth. The people became hardened in spirit, unable to hear the word of the Lord and obey.  They refused correction. The Prophet first went to the people whom the man of God discovered did not know the way to live before the Lord. He then went to the great men that “had understanding” and he discovered they understood but refused to bear the yoke of the Lord and they burst the bonds of the Lord.
Pray today that hardened hearts be softened and that the prophetic voices of truth be heard by the “great men” in the land – religious and governmental leaders who should respect the word of God and the rule of law in America.
