Thursday August 22, 2013 “A Man Hated”

1 Kings 22:8 “So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is still one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.”  And Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say such things!”
Why did the king hate the Prophet Micaiah?  Because of the prophet’s faithfulness to God and commitment to truth.  Jesus said, “If they hate me they will hate you.”   Jesus and the early disciples were hated because they spoke truth to a system – religious and social that was built upon a lie.  They refused to “water down” truth for popularity.
We live in an environment of compromise, convenience and expediency today.  The Bible message is “counter cultural”.  We will not be liked by everyone due to what we are willing to say for truth’s sake concerning social issues and individual rights, but we are in good company when we do so.
Pray today that our faithfulness to God remain strong even when we are hated, nullified, marginalized and penalized in life for righteousness sake.  Keep the Faith.
