Wednesday June 3, 2015 “Right Persecution”

Matthew 5:10-12 “10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
It is so easy to be persecuted for self-righteousness.  Self-righteousness thrives around the religious.  Jesus is clear – if we are persecuted for righteousness sake or evil spoken of for Jesus’ sake we are blessed and we can rejoice.
Pray today that believer’s in America have discerning hearts as to whether they are being persecuted or spoken against for the right reason.  If so we can rejoice with exceeding gladness as the wise men did when they saw the stars shining brightly in the Nativity story.  This attitude keeps us from complaining about being discriminated against for our faith.  Remember it was Stephen’s attitude when being stoned to death that challenged Saul who later become the Apostle Paul.
